THE BEST THING FOR THE MONEY TO GET MORE POWER IS

OPTION 1) BIG BORE KIT W/ 203 CAMS AND SE AIR CLEANER, STAGE 2 CARTRIDGE, CYLINDERS AND PISTONS

OPTION 2) CAMS ONLY 203'S FOR MORE BOTTOM END WITH A STAGE 1 KIT

RE: Subjet 2000 EFI ROADGLIDE STOCK. BUDGET $1000 - $1500

Dear Kirk,

First, we need to let the engine breathe by installing a free flowing exhaust and an air cleaner kit. The perfect exhaust for this bike would be a White Brothers E-Pipe with 12 discs and closed end cap. This pipe would provide the widest torque band and good peak horse power which is best for a heavy touring bike that needs roll on power.

Next, an air cleaner kit - a Screamin' Eagle kit would be sufficient. Now that we have let more air into the motor and more air out of the motor, we need to give the engine more gas; because we have an EFI bike to work with there are a few different fuel control modules made to select from. The module of my choice is the Power Commander because we are getting close to budget. I would install the Power Commander II - its perfect for mildly modified bikes and depending where the module is purchased, it can be half the price of the new updated Power Commander IIIR model. A fuel map will need to be loaded into the new PC module to get max power from the unit. This combination is the best value for the money.

Sincerely,

Nick Trask

This upgrade will give approximately 95 H.P. with a whopping 90 ft lb of torque, exactly what you need for a ride with a side car and pulling a trailer.|

First we would bore the cylinders out to 95 and throw a set of Wiseco 95 piston and ring kit in there. Then we would install an S&S 570 Cam, S&S Gear drive, S&S pushrods and covers set, and HD High Flow air cleaner. For the fuel injection we would suggest a Power Commander 3 and a dyno tune to achieve all available power and fuel economy.

Here is the break down.
S&S Cams $350.00
S&S Gear Drive Set $185.00
S&S Pushrod and Cover Set $145.00
Wiseco Piston and Ring kit $250.00
HD High Flow Air Cleaner $130.00
Power Commander $310.00
James Top End Gasket Kit $58.00
Labor $275.00
Bore $80.00
Dyno Tune $250.00

With Tax this will put you at $2154.31 which is Six hundred over your ceiling but it is better to do it right the first time then have to do it later. You can save about $450.00 by killing off the Dyno Tune and Power Commander and have your ECM recalibrated for 150.00. This will not allow you to achieve all available power and fuel economy.

The upgrade you are looking for, for your bike within the price range of $1000 to $1500 is quite large. My recommendation to you would be a little more pricey of $1,683. You are looking for a nice increase of power and pull up hills. Go with the 1550ci. kit with a set of mild 203 cams. Your pipe has been modified already so with this kit you will get a high flow air cleaner, 1550 cylinders and pistons, cams, a stage 2 download and all the gaskets required. Labor is included in that price of $1683. That would put you in the power range of 84 horsepower and 94 torque.

Waldo - to get you over the hills with more authority and be price effedtive is as follows.

First change the transmission pulley from the 32 tooth to a 30 tooth.
I recommend using the White Brothers E series 2 into 1 exhaust.

Adding the Power commander 3R and custom map it

Total price $1,445.00, this includes installation and parts.

AZHD RECOMMENDS A SCREAMIN' EAGLE STAGE 1 BIG BORE
KIT. THE PARTS COST IS 809.90 DOLLARS.

LABOR TO INSTALL IS 8 HOURS @ 65.00 DOLLARS/HOUR. PARTS WITH
TAX ADDED TO LABOR IS APPROX. $1,400.00 DOLLARS. WE
RECOMMEND THE ELIMINATION OF THE CLUTCH SPRING. IT IS
OVERKILL FOR THE APPLICATION. THIS MOD IS SHORT AND TO
THE POINT. THERE IS NO REASON TO OVERBUILD THE
VEHICLE.

First off, the concept of Waldo having more power is frightening. Poor Charity. On a serious note, Waldo can get 15 to 20% more hp's
pretty cheap. Hopefully a thunderheader will work with the sidecar. A DFO or digital
fuel optimizer from CCI and a Screamin Eagle air filter kit along with the header
should give him bolt on horsepower.

D.F.O. $ 180.00
Thunderheader 360.00
filter kit 125.00
----------------
Parts 665.00
tax 51.87
labor 200.00
-----------------
total $ 916.87
These would be a prerequisite to any motor up grades any way,so it's a good start.

Following is what was presented to the
Dealers and shops here in the valley

Project; Upgrade a 2000 RoadGlide with Sidecar

This objective, should you accept, is to provide your recommendations of how to best upgrade a Harley Davidson Roadglide. Following you will find information on the upgrade request and the bike that is to be upgraded.

This is a great way to get your name in front of a large audience. Currently I get about 3,000 to 5,000 hits per day. I know that this project will create interest, as a lot of the people that I talk to would like to increase their power. Now you have a forum to provide your technical knowledge.

Please, I need this information back by Dec. 28th. This will then give me time to post the information on my website at phoenixbikers.com
.

Project Bike for Upgrade

Bike Harley Davidson
Year 2000
Model Harley Davidson RoadGlide
Modification The bike is stock with the exception that the left exhaust pipe & muffler have been removed @ the crossover which was then capped & welded.
Owner The Famous Waldo

Objective: Upgrade a 2000 RoadGlide with Sidecar

I ride a 2000 RoadGlide with Sidecar. It's an EFI (FElectronic Fuel Injected) Bike. I pull a trailer fairly often (I have two) & most anyone that knows us
will be able to tell you that I'm quite often "loaded to the gills".

The bike is stock with the exception that the left exhaust pipe & muffler have been removed @ the crossover which was then capped & welded.

I don't play "Ricky Racer" & getting miles out of the bike is my primary objective. (My last bike was a 92 FLTCU with sidecar & we got 230,000 miles out of her) What I would like is more power and torque to enable me to more easily climb the hills (without gearing
down) & break through the "wind barrier" when passing
Eighteen-Wheelers on the freeway.

I'd also like to maintain consistent reliability & reasonable gas mileage.

I realize that money = power but I really liked what the shops did with $1000 on the Sportster 883 to 1200 upgrade so I'll go with that and put my budget in the
$1000-$1500 range.

After I get all of the responses, I will put together a report that will summaries your response and publish it on the web at phoenixbikers.com.

I assure you that no one will know who responded or what the response was until it is published.
